- Rotator cuff injuries: These injuries involve a tear of one or more tendons of the rotator cuff. They cause significant pain, weakness and difficulty lifting or rotating the arm.

- Inspection and Palpation: Assess symmetry, muscle atrophy (especially deltoid, supraspinatus, infraspinatus), swelling, deformities and tender points on palpation.
- Range of Motion (ROM) assessment: Both active and passive, in all planes (flexion, extension, abduction, adduction, internal and external rotation). - Instability: Apprehension test, Relocation test, Sulcus sign.
